Colouerd Canyon Excursions to the Coloured Canyon are among the most common from the resorts Dahab and Nuweiba. Although definitely worth the effort, the experience is more and more destroyed by the sheer crowds. It is hard to suggest a good time of the day to visit, as you really come here only as part of a group. The Coloured canyon The Coloured canyon has its name from the layers of bright, multicoloured stones across the steep, narrow walls. The patterns are made from a mixture of sandstone and limestone, with coloures from pink to brown and from yellow to green. The canyon is experienced by walking through it from either direction. Salama Canyon This canyon is known as the small coloured canyon. The canyon is close to the St Catherine road. It is made of soft sandstone and has naturally coloured rocks. The walk through the canyon takes half an hour and is easier than the real Coloured Canyon, with less climbing and wider passageways White Canyon This site is located 700 m above sea level along the way to St. Catherine, known for it's white soft sandstone terrain. When you descend, you will find Ain Khudra Oasis where you'll observe Bedouin families living in traditional tents, following the natural water sources for their livestock. Ain Khundra A palm tree and desert vegetation paradise located 53 km North of Dahab. At this site you will observe the desert at it's most natural state when Mother Nature has been so kind as to bring some rain. There is natural spring which irrigates the landscape.
The programs Half day Jeep Safari * Coloured Canyon We start at 09:00 and drive for 2 hours to the Coloured Canyon where we will see naturally coloured rocks. We will walk through the canyon for about 2 hours and drive for 2 hours back to Dahab, where we arrive around 3 pm Including: experienced guide and transportation in a landcruiser Costs: 40 euro per person One day Jeep Safaris *Small Coloured canyon( Salama Canyon) & White Canyon We start at 08:00 and drive for 1 hours to Salama Canyon (the Small Coloured Canyon) where we will see naturally coloured rocks. We will walk through the canyon for about 1/2 hours and drive for 1 hour through Wadi Ghazala to see the Mushroom Rock. We then drive to Ain Khudra Oasis where we will have lunch. After lunch we walk through the White Canyon with the guide. When we finish, we will go back to Dahab and arrive around 5 in the afternoon. Including: experienced guide, lunch and transportation in a landcruiser Costs: 40 euro per person * Coloured Canyon & White Canyon We start at 08:00 and drive for 2 hours to the Coloured Canyon where we will see naturally coloured rocks. We will walk through the canyon for about 2 hours and drive for 1,5 hours through Wadi Ghazala to see the Mushroom Rock. We then drive to Ain Khudra Oasis where we will have lunch. After lunch we walk through the White Canyon with the guide. When we finish, we will go back to Dahab and arrive around 5 in the afternoon. Including: experienced guide, lunch and transportation in a landcruiser Costs: 65 euro per person These trips can be organised any day for a minimum of 4 people.
